I love the following quote from PJ Harvey:
“All my life, when I’ve been to see bands play, this is what I look for — I want to watch someone who’s going to shock me, stun me, make me feel scared, make me feel happy, just set me alive. I want to see someone who’s going to make the hairs on my arms and neck stand up, and when I see an artist like that it’s unbeatable. So that’s always been what I’ve aspired to, to be able to set people alight in some way.”
PJ Harvey in The New Yorker August 2001
That sums up everything i love about going to see live music. It’s not often that a performance can truly elicit such an emotional response but when it does it’s just magic. PJ Harvey does that when she performs. She’ll shock you, she’ll charm you, she’ll send shivers down your spine.
Aussie’s will be able to experience that first hand when she tours at the end of November. I can’t wait. Here’s the dates:
It’s a pity the Sydney show is at the fricken Hordern Pavillion but i’ll cope.
At least it’s not at the retarded Entertainment Centre.
