A Bloody Good Gig

Last night’s Damien Rice show at the Metro was unbelievable. Probably making it into my top 5 gigs ever. I thought the Monday night show was great, but this was miles ahead. He was in a very happy chatty mood and spun us a number of very funny yarns. And as well as the delightful Ms Carla Werner to support him we had Ms Missy Higgins doing an unannounced set. Plus she came back later to sing a couple of tunes with Damien, including a great medley of Prince’s ‘When Doves Cry’ and Portishead’s ‘Glory Box’.
So many beautiful moments; the violent cathartic end to ‘I Remember’, the stirring ‘Amie’ sung with all the lights out bar a mirrorball sparkling over the room or the hysterical self deprecating stories he told to introduce the songs. It’s incredible how just a man and a guitar can move and entertain you so much. Magic.
UPDATE: I just posted some crappy pictures and a couple of movie clips to the gallery.
