London Attacked

Thankfully all my friends and family in England are ok. My mum is over there and the lovely elmo had already called the UK to check on her whereabouts and then phoned me before i’d even heard there had been a terror attack. And my dear friends Darren, Sara and Ayesha are all fine. Much relief.

The response to the attacks that most moved me was from Ken Livingstone, Lord Mayor of London. He said,

“This was not a terrorist attack against the mighty and the powerful. It was not aimed at Presidents or Prime Ministers. It was aimed at ordinary, working-class Londoners, black and white, Muslim and Christian, Hindu and Jew, young and old. It was an indiscriminate attempt to slaughter, irrespective of any considerations for age, for class, for religion, or whatever.”

Attacking public transport is just shockingly callous. As Ken Livingstone said it’s an attack against ordinary working class people, not soldiers, not government, not a religion. It’s just horrid.

    Cheers for your thoughts Dan.
A couple of friends couldn’t get hold of me as my mobile battery was dead, the networks were shagged so messages I thought I had sent never got through and I am still without internet at home.
In any case they found out we were okay from your blog, so consider that your global public service badge well and truely earned!
I’m still pretty freaked out by it and just settling down to catch up with everything now.
I’m sure I’ll post more later on.
