British Papers and the Berliner

The Guardian : A blog post on the front page

I love the British newspapers. They run the gamut from tabloid smut filled with topless girls and sordid tales of cocaine fuelled lesbian orgies to some really high quality journalism and lifestyle content.

The Guardian is my particular fave (of course it is – being a card carrying member of the latte left and all). I sat in a cafe the other day reading the paper over a coffee and i couldn’t have been more content. It’s got good news coverage of course but also the best music and film writing from any newspaper i’ve read. And the new Berliner format is a great improvement in my mind. It’s easy on the eye and is a joy to flip through. A broadsheet in tabloid clothing.

The paper appears to be integrating web-like features too. I’ve annotated some photos in Flickr to illustrate this.

    Do you keep up with City Of Sound? Design/architecture/media etc.. He had quite a bit to say about the new guardian..
