Subscribe via RSSThe "Australia's Best Blog" competition recently finished provoking no small amount of controversy. There's some good blogs in the finalists, but the judging process appeared to be lacking. And i feel the company that ran it thought of it more as a PR campaign than an attempt to run a fair competition.
A more open and participatory competition is run at The Australian Blog Awards. There's no money at stake, it's just for fun. And they have many different categories, which seems a fairer way to judge and means more winners. They're open for nominations now.
Also on now is the Gridskipper Urban Blogging Awards. Somehow i've managed to scrape in as a nominee in the "Best Urban Music Blog" category against such heavyweights as Brooklyn Vegan and Stereogum. I'm trailing rather pathetically right now with 2.2% of the vote.
But that's enough about blogs. It's almost the weekend, time to go outside and enjoy the summer (for those of us in the Southern Hemisphere).
