I saw my first gigs for the year on the weekend. First up was the “rock out with yer cock out” style swagger of the Hell City Glamours at Spectrum on Friday. See some photos here.
On Sunday evening it was indie rock posterkids The Shins playing with Kiwi’s, The Brunettes. It was a rather splendid gig, with The Shins announcing it would be their last before they complete their new album and tour later in the year.

On another note, i’ve finally given up using iPhoto to manage my photos on my computer. That task’s been given to iView Media and so far it’s doing great. So speedy compared to iPhoto.
I told ya iView was the way to go!

Yeah iView is better at cataloguing, top shot with the hair is great.
iView eh… Do you do much labelling of stuff? Like adding keywords and such? Adobe just announced a new product called LightRoom which looks pretty good. Still in public beta stage but is supposed to be similar to Apple Aperture in operation.
Errgh. I am going through the same process of trying to find a new cataloguing/storing thing after my PC melted in the heat. Now I just have a HUGE folder of DMC-7868723469782354.jpg files.
Sometimes I think it might just be easier to use folders…
I haven’t gotten too pedantic yet about labelling, i’ve only put new stuff in so far, not all my archives. But i plan on doing it – and using all the labelling/cataloguing features.
It’s gonna be a bit of a nightmare, i’ve got over ten thousand photos – all stored in iPhotos convoluted folder structure.
I’ve seen the spiel about Lightroom – but i don’t see it filling a need for me. I’m happy to have one speedy app to organise and preview the files, and do all my editing in Photoshop.
This is the beginning of hassling you until you agree to come on the 21st. This will continue on every post from now until you breakdown and cry and agree in order to shut me up. It is important that we bask in your loveliness. Also: No-one will be able to document the day as you will. The correct answer is YES.

The Shins played ‘Know Your Onion’ when I was in the pit which was nice, as I have to shame-facedly admit, that is the only Shins song I’m familiar with.
I probably now have a spot in ‘indie hell’ for admitting to that.

Go the Shins!
I saw them at Falls and at the Corner last Saturday.
I always think the lead singer seems like a kind of solo-broody type guy more than a band guy, and these pics seem to suggest that too.

Yeah definitely – i stuck around and watched the show. Most of the time i can do that.
