Iggy Pop Rocks

Iggy Pop

My highlight of the Big Day Out?

Without a doubt, photographing Iggy Pop.

Just amazing to watch, the fire in his eyes and that sculptural body. He’s older than my dad but had more manic energy onstage than any other act on the Big Day Out bill.

UPDATE: I’ve posted a bunch more photos in the Iggy Pop and The Stooges gallery. Over the next week i’ll keep adding more of my Big Day Out photos.

    Wow, these photos ROCK Dan.
    Especially liking the 5th.
The way his hair looks like a thousand piercing needles.
    The clenched fist,
The sinuous texture of his chest,
    And that tentacle-like vein.

Wow! I hope Spin love everything you show them and want to send you to more – I’d love to see you capture the upcoming Rolling Stones tour, assuming they’re letting official photographers in.

Thanks guys. These are the shots i’m most happy about. No one compared to Iggy for that energy on stage which i love to photograph.

Wow Dan these are fantastic! I couldn’t anywhere near the main stage for Iggy or the white stripes so looking at these awesome shots, kind of makes me wish I’d gone to the effort of getting closer!!

  16. I’m in awe of your pics all the way in the East Village. Seriously, amazing. I come back to this site to get a feel for what’s happening in Aussie land, and I’m totally blown away time and again by the quality of your photographs.
I was meant to interview Wolfmother a few days back in anticipation of their States side tour, but there was a mix up with the phone number.
I will be reviewing their Mercury Lounge show in February if that’s of interest.
Again, nice work, and gorgeous shots!

    Hey man.
    Awesome photo’s.
Iggy pop is amazing. I’ve been face to face with iggy staring into those firey eyes. haha. i was one of the lucky few punters to be pulled on stage with him and the stooges at the goldcoast Big Day Out.
Absolutly amazing. Standing arm in arm with iggy singing No Fun to 20000 ppl. Highlight of my life. I’m desperatly looking for photo’s of it. Would mean the world to me if you could find some.
    Cheers. Vince

  18. ROB says:

If only I thought I could get my camera in…then again I was probably not fit for shooting. Totally awsome photos. Thanks for the memories.

  19. Dan says:

Cheers everyone, i was stoked by these shots too so glad others like em too.
Vince – i’m not sure where you’d find shots of the crowd on stage. The accredited photographers only get to shoot three songs so unless the crowd got onstage during that time you might not be able to find much. You could always try Flickr.
