The Prettiest Pony has just posted a new MSTRKRFT remix of Wolfmother’s Woman. MSTRKRFT (pronounced masterkraft) have been on something of a roll lately, starting a while back with a remix of Bloc Party’s Two More Years (mp3) and since doing danceable mixes for Metric, Buck 65, DFA1979 etc… The formula for each song seems similar, add a funky new drum beat, a fuzzy bass riff, some synths, cowbell, handclaps and hey presto – an instant dancefloor anthem! You can listen to more of their stuff on Myspace.
On another musical note, Stereogum just did a post on Lisa Loeb which got me all nostalgic. There’s link to download (mp3) a version of her song Stay, which ten years after Reality Bites, i still know every word off by heart.
And a couple of tunes from the new Placebo album, Meds (featuring VV from The Kills) and Infra-Red (via Ultragrrl ).
Finally check out this live version of Miss Sarejevo by U2 (mp3 via Achtung Baby) . It was performed in Milan in July 2005, just after the London bombings. I saw them perform it in New York – when Bono sung the Pavarotti part and hit that high note it was stunning.
MSTRKRFT can do no wrong… the track is immense…
