Back in February i took press shots for Gold Coast band Operator Please.
It was such a fun shoot and the band were a pleasure to spend time with. They’re very young (aged between 16-18) and have that youthful energy and lack of pretention but they’re also very savvy and self aware. Talented musicians too – they know how to write a catchy song.
They’re hard at work touring the country at the moment. They play at Candy’s Apartment in Sydney tonight with many other cities to follow. After that they’re touring in support of The Kaiser Chiefs, then do it all again in support of Maximo Park. Then they play Leeds and Reading festival in the UK!
Busy little bees they are.

I saw these guys on Australia Day eve and had a feeling they’d go onto bigger and better things. Clearly a national tour supporting by JJJ is one of them

I saw them last night at the Newcastle show and they were so good, but the crowd was so bad! Everyone was sitting down and I wanted to dance! Great photos man.

OMG Operator Please are the best band that i have heard in ages. They are young and full of energy which reflects in their music! The song Just a song about ping pong is really lively and sounds amazing, also get what you want is a really good video clip aswell as crash tragic! Can’t wait fot their album to come out!

Amandah is my favorite. She has amazing vocals. Ashley of course is a close second. Interesting enough, i dislkike Timmy for some reason. Possibly becuase he reminds me of my brother. I love these pictures. They are amazing.

I just caught their clip on Rage and had to find out more about them. Having a Friend working for Rode Microphones, I have had access to many Musicoz Awards nights and have wondered how this band has been able to get under the radar of Musicoz organisers. Well done on your efforts guys
Now Dan, mate as a fellow photographer, I feel that your pics of them were ok- though you lack their essence. More pics of them out doors would have been better including them partaking in their favourite activities, after all, isn’t that what being a kid is all about? I don’t do studio work, but what you have done with them in doors is great, though perhaps the all white background is kind of over stating the simplicity of the subject- which is really a contradiction in terms as they are anything but simple. I could make a few sugestions, but every photographer has their own way.
