Elton John back in Sydney
The bitch was back playing in Sydney on Monday night at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. It was his 41st show at that venue, and his third tour to Sydney in the past 2 years. He must like it here.
I'm a man of pictures, not words, so read what some other people had to say of the show.
Before the show Time Out had arranged for Elton to meet with Carole Ann King and present her with a certificate recognising her contribution to the community. Carole Ann founded a charitable organisation called the Luncheon Club 15 years ago.
The Luncheon Club provides free meals and support to people living with HIV/AIDS. It was a much deserved moment of recognition and excitement for Carole Ann.

About the about page.
A sewn title from a previous blog design.
As a voracious reader of blogs and a former web designer, i've always been an advocate for a good "About" page. The sort of page that you click when you first stumble onto a website, to give it all a bit of context.
Someone once described the frustration of blogs to me by saying "it's like walking into a conversation half way through". It's a sentiment i sympathise with and i think an about page can help orient first time readers.
So after 5 years, Boudist finally has an about page.
If you've any suggestions for changes let me know.

Fashion show model casting
Going back a few weeks, here's some photos from a model casting Romance Was Born held for their Australian Fashion Week show.
It was in a rather spectacular converted church in Surry Hills, home to fashion PR company Little Hero and Live Fashion.

Behind the celebrity pictures
You're used to seeing photos of celebrities looking glam on red carpets and media events, but you don't often get to see the bedlam of photographers that surround them.
I don't often shoot those sort of events, but when i do, and when there's opportune time, i like to throw the wide angle lens on to capture more of the scene.
A couple of my photos from an MTV Awards media call last week prompted me to pull together some of my other similar shots into a Flickr set.

Australian Fashion Week 2008
Between my regular work i managed to squeeze in some time to shoot a few pictures at Australian Fashion Week. I saw shows by Friedrich Gray, TV and Romance Was Born.

Apart from shooting Friedrich Gray last year, i'd never been to a fashion show before. Photo-wise it's like shooting fish in a barrel, beautiful people made up in nice frocks makes for easy pictures.
It's a bit of a mad house for photographers though, dozens of snappers all jockeying for the best position. I preferred shooting backstage where you have to be creative with light, and you can also snap some closer portraits of the models.
I don't know much about fashion but i was mightily impressed by the Romance Was Born show. Held off the main site of Fashion Week, they took over the main hall of the Conservatorium of Music. With no runway as such, the models paraded up and down the aisles in a series of colourful tribal influenced outfits.
You can see some slideshows with more pictures over at Time Out Sydney.
