Wil Anderson gets Wilosophical

Here’s some snaps of comedian Wil Anderson taken for a feature in the latest Time Out Sydney.
In the tradition of naming his standup shows with a pun on his name, Wil’s latest show is called Wilosophy.
Which is why we thought it’d be fun to dress him up as a philosopher.
So i hired a toga, grabbed a fake book off my bookshelf and voila, instant Greek philosopher.

Dan: "So you're ready to change into the toga?" Wil: "Hahaha" Dan: "... no, i'm serious"

Wil's quite notorious for wearing thongs all the time, so it made sense to keep them for this look.

A step back to reveal the floorboards

Cybele stands in as a test subject before Wil arrives
For those curious about the lighting, it was one gridded softbox up high on camera left, and a smaller softbox on the floor camera right. I also used polyboards to shape the light hitting the background.

Wow – nice work mate!
Should have had a video going on the toga bit though
wow he kept the havianas on
nice shots, good character to shoot =)
Cool shots Dan!
Nicely done
you changed your website (i just noticed) and it looks fantastic!
Hey Dan, really cool shots.
I like the one revealing the floorboards – kind of reminds me of when a character in television looks down the barrel of the camera and breaks the fourth wall … it breaks that illusion.
And now the toga reference makes sense. Nice.
Good shots. The toga was a good idea given his current tour title. Strange how different people can look from an angle when you’re used to seeing them straight on. I had to look twice at that second photo to make sure it was him.
I like the lighting in the test shot. The left hand side is darker than the right, but it’s on the left that her face and arm are so light in contrast. Maybe it wasn’t intentional but it looks good that way.
