A model gets her hair and makeup finished

Last week i photographed behind the scenes at a number of Rosemount Australian Fashion Week shows for Little Hero PR.

It’s a pretty fun gig, shooting models and hanging out with photographer buddies. A lot of my brief was shooting sponsorship stuff but i snapped some frames for my own interest in between.

I made a gallery of some of my photos and there’s some samples below.

Virgin Blue staff model their new uniforms

Virgin Blue today launched their new staff uniforms with an Elle Macpherson fronted launch event.

The PR campaign surrounding the new uniforms was accompanied by photos i took a few weeks ago in a top secret shoot with a several Virgin pilots and cabin crew.

Behind the Scenes of Australia’s Next Top Model

Back in June i had an assignment for ACP magazines, shooting pictures behind-the-scenes at the taping of an Australia’s Next Top Model shoot.

I’ve never seen the show before, except for that kerfuffle over Sarah Murdoch announcing the wrong winner. No such problems on a non-live taping like i was tagging along with though.

The shoot was a challenge for the models at B2 Studios, an advertising photo shoot for Kotex with photographer Stephen Ward. Five girls posed separately for the photo with the winner being chosen to feature in the real advertisement.

There's a digital operator on set who downloads the shots and comps them straight into an ad layout

A preview mock up of what the final ad layout will look like

After the five models are shot, mockups of the ad layouts are printed with their photo in it. Here, photographer Stephen Ward surveys the images determining whose photo is best.

Australian Fashion Week seems like an eternity ago now, but here’s some photos that have just gone to print.

They’re behind-the-scenes photos at fashion label Little Joe‘s runway show, run in a Lancôme sponsored double page spread in Harper’s Bazaar.

Ksubi : RAFW 2010

Ksubi held their 10th anniversary Fashion Week show at the cavernous Royal Hall of Industries.

Ksubi almost imploded in bankruptcy last year, and they jokingly mock themselves as has beens, but this big brashy show seemed to be sending a message that they’re here to stay.

Romance Was Born : RAFW 2010

Romance Was Born was, as has become the norm, the most memorable and spectacular of the shows i saw at Fashion Week. It was held in MacLaurin Hall in Sydney University which was decked out in the theme for the show – ‘Renaissance Dinosaur’.

So much attention to detail and creativity gone wild.

Friedrich Gray : RAFW 2010

Photos from backstage at Friedrich Gray‘s Australian Fashion Week show.

Friedrich Gray was the first ever fashion show i photographed. It was in 2007 at The Kirk, a church in Surry Hills and i was snapping for the now defunct Australian edition of Dazed and Confused.

I’ve shot each of his fashion week shows since, so it was nice to keep up the tradition.
