Pooped
I think i need another weekend to recover from my weekend. Events included seeing Ae Fond Kiss at the Film Festival, seeing Dallas Crane rock the Annandale, seeing Ugly Duckling and others hip hop the Gaelic Club, going to a house party in Paddo and staying out till dawn and finally moving to North Sydney [...]
Melbourne bound
I’m off on a little 4 day jaunt to Melbourne on Friday with two of my old mates. I’m unofficially in charge of the nightlife activities and as such i’ve browsed the gig guide but nothing leaps out. Regardless i’ve made a list of establishments, some with live music, others that just look like nice [...]
Not a guilty purchase
When some people are feeling low they buy themselves a new pair of shoes, a new outfit or get a haircut to perk themselves up. Me, i buy an expensive gadget. There’s something thrilling about spending lots of hard earned cash. Consumer euphoria or something. So anyway, my new camera should arrive sometime next week. [...]
Bathroom decoration
I don’t normally make a habit of taking photos in the Gent’s bathrooms, but i saw a couple of things decorating the bathrooms walls at two drinking establishments this weekend that deserved a photo. The top one is from the Labour Club in Surry Hills, the walls are totally covered in awesome stencils and grafitti. [...]
I’m so cool, i hang out with artists
The other night I went to a gallery opening where a friend of mine has some work on display. The exhibition is part of this thing called the Conjecture Project. It teams a bunch of local artists with designers from Germany, and from different sides of the world they collaborate to make art. The show [...]
They say it’s your birthday
So i bought an iPod last week. Regrettably i had to give it away just a few short days later. See the iPod wasn’t for me, but for elmo, who was very deserving of such a gift. A whole bunch of her friends all kicked in some cash to get her the iPod. She seems [...]
Remembering Boudist’s European Vacation
In a change to the usual photos i’ve been posting to my photo gallery of me and my mates on our weekend antics i’ve had a fit of nostalgia and scanned in some old holiday snaps. The photos are from a 3 month trip i took to Europe in 2001 to see my sister get [...]
Carry The Flame
The Olympic Torch Relay just passed by my work. I just don’t know how i contained my excitement. The magic spectacle of watching some dude with a gut jog very slowly down a street. By golly i’m so excited about the Olympics right now.
Bat Exodus
Not that you can see them very well but this old pic was an attempt to photograph the regular flying-fox bat exodus that took place every evening over my old home. Like clockwork, when the sunlight had almost faded the bats headed out from their home in the Botanical Gardens for a night of fun [...]
Boudist goes Buddhist
I had a spiritually enlightening Sunday afternoon attending the Buddha’s Birthday celebrations at Darling Harbour. Thankfully i had a real live Buddhist to talk me through all the rituals and explain what was going on. I bathed the Buddha which was a somewhat complicated process involving several prostrations, bows and pouring of water over a [...]
Kiss me and turn me slow, up and down here we go!
If i had the inspiration i’d write about all the fun stuff i got up to on the weekend. Like dining with some charming bloggers, going punting at the greyhounds, checking out Cut Copy at the Gaelic Club, hanging out at the Surry Hills Festival, going Buddhist for Buddha’s birthday or even the hilarious spectacle [...]
it’s not a dirty word
So i’ve jumped on the rasterbation bandwagon. I needed a tall and thin image to fit on the back of a bookshelf and this image of Buzz Aldrin fit the bill. I’m going to keep experimenting with it. I’m on the lookout for a groovier image, and perhaps i’ll slice the white edges off the [...]
Making Movies
My office was taken over by a film crew on Friday. They were shooting a short film called Black & White. It’s crazy how many people are involved on a film shoot, there must have been about 25 people, and this is just a low budget short. A stack of my magazines will make a [...]
You’re so money, you don’t even know
Dunstan, a Brit web developer recently transplanted to San Francisco, has written a great post about being single, the awkwardness, anxiety and excitement of it. He quotes from that legendary movie Swingers,
Stuff and things
I had a rather fun filled weekend. It included (in no particular order): seeing the band 16dd (who’s frontwoman Emma Tom i’ve had a longtime crush on) having dinner with friends (lovely place you got there Cam) drinking with friends (at various establishments) an industrial strength sex toy (it’s art people) Radiohead (divine) jelly wrestling [...]
Setting Sun
Some days there are the most beautiful sunsets out the window from my work. More like this in the weather gallery.
On a Friday
Spent the day at Semi-Permanent being inspired by various design legends. Spent the evening catching up with old mates. Ended up at the usual haunt, spotting girls with inviting t-shirts, very long hair and rock’n’roll legends. Now it’s time for bed, gotta get up and do it all again tomorrow…
Some photos from the weekend
Heading down the M5 tunnel on the way home from seeing Steve Earle at the Revesby Workers Club with me mum. Yen and Estee in Circular Quay A classic car in Darlinghurst The dodgy disco at the Aussie Rules Club in Kings Cross A big arsed spider in my backyard in Glebe
grumble
UPDATE: I’m ok now. Back to work. Thanks for the kind comments and emails. How could I get sick of blogging? I’m sick of this blogging business. I can’t write what i’m really thinking about, lest i hurt people’s feelings and the site turns into whiny self indulgent shite. I can’t write clever witty anecdotes [...]
electing
I ran the gauntlet of pamphleteers at the Town Hall today to vote in the local council elections. Go Clover! UPDATE: Clover Moore is Sydney’s new Lord mayor
songs to break up to
I’ve compiled a ‘feeling sorry for myself’ playlist in iTunes. If you’re not feeling miserable already, these tunes will get you there. UPDATE (18/4/03): I’ve discovered and remembered a whole bunch more. There’s a few beauties. Seek these songs out if you want some lovelorn music. But listen with caution, it may result in moistening [...]
On trial
Tomorrow will be my 7th day of Jury Duty and it’s doing my head in. At first it was fascinating seeing the trial process in action, but now it’s become incredibly stressful and tedious. Sitting in judgement over another person is not a pleasant situation to be in. I just want to get back to [...]
loved and lost
Things are quite sad for me right now. Amanda and I are parting ways. There’s no scandal, no big drama, it’s quite amicable. We’ve had nearly two wonderful years together. We’re still on good terms. But the next little while is going to be difficult.
Cacti
I paid a visit to the Botanical Gardens on the weekend. It’s a lovely place to spend the afternoon and i always enjoy browsing through the succulents garden. I took a few photos.
