Pearl Jam and Kings of Leon

Last week was a pretty big one for taking photos, as well as U2 and Kanye West i also photographed Pearl Jam and Kings of Leon for Triple J.

It was quite a thrill seeing Pearl Jam again. I saw them at the Entertainment Centre in 1998 and was a massive fan in the early nineties. It was quite strange seeing these grown up men on stage, not the daggy young guys i remember from my youth.

After three songs the photographers were escorted from the venue so i didn’t get to see as much as i would’ve liked. Being the dork i am i logged in to YouTube when i got home and watched all the old Pearl Jam videos i could find. It brought back memories of when i used to tape Rage every weekend. I’ve seen those early Pearl Jam videos so many times. They really are an awesome band.

Pearl Jam’s support act was Kings of Leon who i’ve seen several times now. I do like them, especially their second album, even if their stage presence leaves something to be desired. I guess you can get away with a lack of crowd interaction when you’re so damn pretty.

Foos and Kaisers

Some shots i took of the Kaiser Chiefs and Foo Fighters at The Superdome last week are now online at Triple J.

As is the norm for accredited photographers i only got to photograph the first three songs of each band. Usually you get to stick around and watch the show, but at this gig i was escorted out of the arena with the other photographers after three songs. So i can’t really tell you how the show was.

I’d post more photos here, but i signed a contract basically waiving my right to publish them anywhere except Triple J.

It ain’t all wine and roses photographing from that pit, but it’s still the best spot in the house for those three songs and i wouldn’t give it up for quids.
