<p><a href="http://www.myspace.com/thescare">The Scare</a> week continues (previously <a href="http://www.boudist.com/archive/2009/03/26/the_scare_have_no_money.php">No Money video</a>, <a href="http://www.boudist.com/archive/2009/03/23/australian_music_prize_2008.php">AMP ceremony</a>) with these snaps i took of the band at <a href="http://www.annandalehotel.com/anh/">The Annandale</a>.</p>
<p><img src="http://boudist.com/images/the-scare-my-filthy-riot-1.jpg" alt="The Scare" width="500" height="750" /><img src="http://boudist.com/images/the-scare-my-filthy-riot-4.jpg" alt="The Scare" width="500" height="333" /><img src="http://boudist.com/images/the-scare-my-filthy-riot-3.jpg" alt="The Scare" width="500" height="750" /></p>
<p>They&#8217;re part of a bigger project i did last weekend, shooting band portraits backstage during <a href="http://www.myspace.com/myfilthyriot">My Filthy Riot</a>. I set up a mini-studio, taping a gray backdrop to the wall and lighting with a softbox. I shot about 20 bands all in that way, quick shoots over in less than a minute. </p>
<p>I&#8217;ll post more once i sort through them.</p>
<p><img src="http://boudist.com/images/the-scare-my-filthy-riot-6.jpg" alt="The Scare" width="500" height="333" /><img src="http://boudist.com/images/the-scare-my-filthy-riot-5.jpg" alt="The Scare" width="500" height="359" /></p>
<p>It&#8217;s good to see The Scare in good spirits and optimistically looking forward. They&#8217;ve been doing the hard slog for years and previously seemed on some downward spiral to disintegration. No longer.</p>
<p>They&#8217;re one of the first bands i photographed live, before i even owned an SLR camera. </p>
<p><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/dreadfuldan/1962247/" title="The Scare by dreadfuldan, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/2/1962247_6e2f4490f7.jpg" alt="The Scare" width="500" height="375" border="0" /></a></p>
<p>This is a snap from Spectrum in 2004.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/dreadfuldan/70365314/" title="The Scare @ Homebake by dreadfuldan, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/34/70365314_449289b984.jpg" alt="The Scare @ Homebake" width="500" height="333" border="0" /></a></p>
<p>And this from Homebake 2005, the first festival i ever had proper accreditation to photograph.</p>

<p>Last but not least of my Splendour sideshows was <a href="http://www.boudist.com/gallery/v/gigs/the-horrors-sydney/">The Horrors at The Annandale</a>.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.boudist.com/gallery/v/gigs/the-horrors-sydney/"><img src="http://boudist.com/images/horrors-07.JPG" alt="The Horrors" width="500" height="333" border="0" /></a></p>
<p>A lot of people reckon they&#8217;re style over substance &#8211; but oh what style and what an entertaining live show. They&#8217;re fascinating to watch, like characters from the Addams Family with a volatile lead singer who likes to destroy things and stray into the audience.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.boudist.com/gallery/v/gigs/the-horrors-sydney/"><img src="http://boudist.com/images/horrors-15.JPG" alt="The Horrors" width="500" height="384" border="0" /></a>
<p>The band must&#8217;ve had the same tour manager as Lily Allen because instead of a photo pass the photographers were given a pink Nike sweatband to wear. It stuck out rather embarrasingly amongst the black clad Horrors fans.</p>
