Big Day Out 2010

Here’s some of my happy snaps from Sydney’s Big Day Out on Saturday.

Bluejuice through the years

Bluejuice through the years

To coincide with the release of bluejuice’s new album Head of the Hawk, i dug out some of my photos from the archives for a pictorial retrospective in Tangent magazine.
Bluejuice is in the midst of an Australian tour at the moment and Head of the Hawk is out now.

Here’s some photos from the FBi Radio fundraiser gig last Saturday night at The Metro.
You can see more pictures in the gallery at Mess and Noise or below.

Homebake 2008

On a sweltering Saturday last week Homebake rolled round again, taking over Sydney’s Domain.

The visual highlight was surely Nick Littlemore’s dramatic entrance for Pnau’s set.
Hoisted angelically into the rafters to sing their opening song Wild Strawberries, it was a superbly Spinal Tap moment.

In a hark back to 2005 when the Finn brothers headlined Homebake, Crowded [...]

Splendour in the Grass photos

I posted the crowd photos from Splendour, now here’s the artists on stage.

Folks like Sigur Ros, The Vines, The Wombats, The Grates, Cold War Kids, Laura Marling, Vampire Weekend, Hadouken!, Tricky, bluejuice, Polyphonic Spree, Band of Horses and more.

Loads more in the Splendour in the Grass photo gallery.

Come Together Festival at Luna Park

It’s been a while between shooting gigs for me, but i was back on the game on Saturday at the Come Together Festival at Luna Park. It was a good chance to catch up with a bunch of local bands and see the new upstarts.

Bluejuice seemed to have the best crowd reaction all day. People [...]

Big Day Out 2008

And here’s the rest of my Big Day Out photos.
Above is Lords of Lightning who performed with some spectacular man made lightning before Rage Against The Machine.

The guitarist from Anti-Flag gets amongst the crowd.

Régine from Arcade Fire.

Pnau get some wild strawberries dancing.

Kate Nash lets out a wail

bluejuice have problems

My first album cover photo!
This is the cover art for bluejuice’s debut album Problems. After being around for 6 years they’re finally releasing their debut album on the 11th August.
You may remember the photo when i first posted it.

I haven’t seen it myself yet, but i believe the rear CD art is the bottom [...]

bluejuice photos

Taking photos of bluejuice was probably one of the funnest shoots i’ve ever done. I mean, look at that photo above. One of my favourites ever.

And it was all too easy. I turned up at this office space and the guys are there and ready with all sorts of outfits to try on. Or take [...]

Bluejuice recording

The other week i spent an hour or so in the studio with Bluejuice. They were recording a song for an album they hope to finish soon.

I’ve not really spent much time inside a recording studio, and while there i kept thinking of one of my all time favourite photos. It’s John Lennon expressively conducting [...]

Bluejuice & Silo

I went to several gigs last week and have just put some photos online. The first gallery is of Bluejuice at The Annandale. They put on a ripper of a show. As usual Jake was his mental self, hurling himself around, crowdsurfing and inciting the crowd. Good stuff. Learn more about the band on the [...]
