<p>Here&#8217;s my <a href="http://boudist.com/gallery/v/gigs/vfestival-sydney-2008/">photos from the V Festival in Sydney</a> last weekend.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s quite a civilised festival as far as these things go. Not overcrowded, just three stages, not too many timetable clashes, great setting, good bands and a mix of young and old punters.</p>
<p><a href="http://boudist.com/gallery/v/gigs/vfestival-sydney-2008/"><img src="http://boudist.com/images/smashing-pumpkins-6.JPG" border="0" alt="Billy Corgan" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>I was a Smashing Pumpkins fan back in the day, first seeing them at the Hordern Pavilion circa 1996. So it was a nostalgic rush to hear them open their set with the chiming guitar intro to <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Today_(The_Smashing_Pumpkins_song)">Today</a>.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s a pity anything Pumpkins post &#8217;96 doesn&#8217;t interest me at all. Even if they will throw an attractive new bassist.</p>
<p><img src="http://boudist.com/images/smashing-pumpkins-4.JPG" border="0" alt="Smashing Pumpkins not D'Arcy" width="500" height="750" /><br />
<img src="http://boudist.com/images/roisin-murphy-15.JPG" border="0" alt="Roisin Murphy" width="500" height="750" /></p>
<p>Róisín Murphy was notable for her mid set costume changes and attractive backup singers.</p>
<p><img src="http://boudist.com/images/robyn-4.JPG" border="0" alt="Robyn" width="500" height="333" /></p>
<p>Robyn and her crazed dancing were fun to shoot.</p>
<p><img src="http://boudist.com/images/Modest-Mouse-6.JPG" border="0" alt="Johnny Marr" width="500" height="750" /></p>
<p>Modest Mouse were playing but all eyes and lenses seemed to be trained on their ex-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr.</p>
<p><img src="http://boudist.com/images/glass-candy-3.JPG" border="0" alt="Glass Candy" width="500" height="333" /></p>
<p>Glass Candy were a wild card for me and were quite fun. A languid lead singer and a baseball cap toting synth player.</p>
<p><img src="http://boudist.com/images/jesus-and-mary-chain-1.JPG" border="0" alt="Jesus and Mary Chain" width="500" height="333" /></p>
<p>I&#8217;m sure The Jesus and Mary Chain pleased their fans, i&#8217;m embarrasingly ignorant of the cult band.</p>
<p><img src="http://boudist.com/images/cut-copy-10.JPG" border="0" alt="V Festival Sydney" width="500" height="333" /></p>
<p>This was the crowd for Cut Copy &#8211; who deserved to be in high spirits after news filtered through their new album debuted at number one on the charts.</p>
<p><img src="http://boudist.com/images/css-9.JPG" border="0" alt="Lovefoxxx" width="500" height="333" /></p>
<p>CSS were lots of fun &#8211; but the sound mix was shocking and had the crowd chanting &#8220;turn it up!&#8221;.</p>

<p>I did a photo shoot with <a href="http://www.midnightjuggernauts.com/">Midnight Juggernauts</a> on Thursday night. These are a couple of offcuts, i&#8217;ll post the proper shots later once they&#8217;re approved.</p>
<p>The elements were stacked against us.</p>
<p>We were shooting at night in the pitch black of Centennial Park without a permit.</p>
<p>The band were only available for a short window of time between their soundcheck and when they were due on stage.</p>
<p>To top it off, it started pouring with rain while we were outdoors in the park with expensive lights.</p>
<p>Not ideal conditions, but the band are such gentleman and remained in jovial spirits which kept us going. </p>
<p>In the end none of the gear was damaged, the band made their show on time and the shots worked out fine. </p>
<p>All&#8217;s well that ends well.</p>
