<p>On a sweltering Saturday last week <a href="http://whothehell.net/dash-will">Homebake</a> rolled round again, taking over Sydney&#8217;s Domain.</p>
<p><a href="http://boudist.com/gallery/v/gigs/homebake-2008/"><img src="http://boudist.com/images/Pnau-4.jpg" border="0" alt="Pnau" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>The visual highlight was surely Nick Littlemore&#8217;s dramatic entrance for <a href="http://www.pnau.net/">Pnau&#8217;s</a> set.</p>
<p>Hoisted angelically into the rafters to sing their opening song <em>Wild Strawberries</em>, it was a superbly Spinal Tap moment.</p>
<p><img src="http://boudist.com/images/Crowded-House-11.jpg" alt="Crowded House" width="500" height="333" /></p>
<p>In a hark back to 2005 when the <a href="http://www.boudist.com/archive/2005/12/06/homebake_with_the_finns.php">Finn brothers headlined</a> Homebake, Crowded House closed the evening with some sing-a-longs.</p>
<p><img src="http://boudist.com/images/Crowded-House-9.jpg" alt="Crowded House" width="500" height="333" /><br />
<img src="http://boudist.com/images/You-Am-I-16.jpg" alt="You Am I" width="500" height="333" /></p>
<p>You Am I were in fine form, with some strings and extra percussion accompaniment.</p>
<p><img src="http://boudist.com/images/Gabriella-Cilmi-3.jpg" alt="Gabriella Cilmi" width="500" height="333" /></p>
<p>It wasn&#8217;t really all that exciting to me, but the agency photographers were all snap happy for Gabriella Cilmi.</p>
<p><img src="http://boudist.com/images/British-India-7.jpg" alt="British India" width="500" height="750" /><br />
<img src="http://boudist.com/images/Violent-Soho-9.jpg" alt="Violent Soho" width="500" height="333" /></p>
<p>I&#8217;m glad i finally got see <a href="http://violentsoho.com/">Violent Soho</a>, reminding me of the nineties stoner grunge i used to listen to. Quite unique on the scene at the moment.</p>
<p><img src="http://boudist.com/images/Bluejuice-6.jpg" alt="Bluejuice" width="500" height="333" /></p>
<p><a href="http://boudist.com/gallery/v/gigs/homebake-2008/"><img src="http://boudist.com/images/Eddy-Current-Supression-Ring-2.jpg" border="0" alt="Eddy Current" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Everyone&#8217;s favourite band seems to be <a href="http://www.ecsr.com.au/">Eddy Current Suppression Ring</a>. <a href="http://www.spin.com/articles/eddy-current-suppression-ring">SPIN magazine too</a>.</p>
<p><a href="http://boudist.com/gallery/v/gigs/homebake-2008/"><img src="http://boudist.com/images/Dash-and-Will-4.jpg" border="0" alt="Dash and Will" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://www.dashandwill.com.au/">Dash and Will</a> were really sweet. Nice pop tunes. A more sunny and colourful Tegan and Sara. I can see them becoming rather popular. Jerry from whothehell.net is<a href="http://whothehell.net/dash-will"> in love with them</a>.</p>
<p>Lots more snaps in the <a href="http://boudist.com/gallery/v/gigs/homebake-2008/">Homebake photo gallery</a>.</p>

<p>Apart from a couple of acts i thought the lineup of Live Earth was rather underwhelming. Crowded House were an obvious highlight and had the entire stadium in the palm of their hand. It felt a bit like a homecoming as it was in Sydney they played the supposed farewell concert 10 years ago on the Opera House steps. </p>
<p><a href="http://www.boudist.com/gallery/v/gigs/live-earth-sydney/"><img src="http://boudist.com/images/wolfmother-02.JPG" alt="Wolfmother" border="0" /></a></p>
<p>Being a Wolfmother tragic i also enjoyed their set, although it is getting a little tiresome seeing the same songs again and again. I look forward to them returning with something fresh.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.boudist.com/gallery/v/gigs/live-earth-sydney/"><img src="http://boudist.com/images/sneaky-sound-system-13.JPG" alt="Sneaky SOund System Live Earth Sydney" border="0" /></a><br />
<a href="http://www.boudist.com/gallery/v/gigs/live-earth-sydney/"><img src="http://boudist.com/images/missy-higgins-03.JPG" alt="Missy Higgins" width="500" height="333" border="0" /></a><a href="http://www.boudist.com/gallery/v/gigs/live-earth-sydney/"><img src="http://boudist.com/images/jack-johnson-03.JPG" alt="Jack Johnson" width="500" height="333" border="0" /></a><br />
<a href="http://www.boudist.com/gallery/v/gigs/live-earth-sydney/"><img src="http://boudist.com/images/20070707_0165.JPG" alt="Live Earth Sydney" width="500" height="333" border="0" /></a></p>
<p>Taking good pictures of the artists at an event like this is a pretty hard task. The stage is massive, so you&#8217;re quite a distance from the performers, who are obscured by floor foldback speakers. Plus there&#8217;s a camera on rails moving in front of your shots. Not to mention the 60 odd accredited photographers squeezed into the pit, making mobility nigh on impossible. So the photos are rather uninspiring.</p>
