VIVID Live photos

Bat for Lashes

It’s been almost a week since it wrapped up but i’ve just found a moment to come up for air to blog some Vivid Live photos. I was shooting for the Sydney Opera House and some days felt like i had the best job in the world. Going to work each night at the magnificently [...]

U2 turn Sydney Red

Bono turns Sydney red for World Aids Day

My buddy Elmo and I have been long time U2 fans, so when we heard Bono was in town to launch World Aids Day ahead of their Australian tour we scoured our media contacts to get access. Turns out it wasn’t that hard, and with a scrum of TV crews, radio people, photographers and journalists [...]

Vivid 2010 recap

After posting some other photos of Vivid Sydney events like the lighting of the Opera House sails, Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson’s press conference, the concert for dogs, and Creative Sydney, here’s some other photos from my time shooting Vivid Live for the Opera House.

Music for Dogs

Music for Dogs

One of the most odd but enjoyable events of Vivid Sydney so far was Saturday’s Music for Dogs concert by Laurie Anderson. It was a free performance by Laurie and three musicians designed especially for dogs on the forecourt of the Sydney Opera House.

Vivid Sydney 2010

Lou Reed speaks at the press conference to launch Vivid Live

The next couple of weeks i’ll be photographing a number of things for the Vivid Sydney festival which kicked off with the illumination of the Sydney Opera House sails last Thursday.

Brian Eno launches Luminous

This morning Brian Eno launched his music festival Luminous with a press conference at the Sydney Opera House. As well as curating the music, he’s got an artwork on display in the Studio at the Opera House called 77 Million Paintings. Starting at 6pm tonight his artwork will also be projected onto the sails of [...]

The SMAC Awards

Last night at the Sydney Opera House the inaugural SMAC awards were dished out. Presented by Time Out Sydney and FBi Radio, the SMACs recognise the best of Sydney’s Music, Art and Culture. Many of Sydney’s music and arts community were in attendance, saluting their peers, wearing nice frocks, admiring the view and getting pissed [...]

Pussycat Dolls at Sydney Opera House

Last week i photographed the Pussycat Dolls performing at Sydney Opera House for Xbox Sounds. They appear to be somewhat like a new generation Spice Girls. It was a pretty spectacular location for a concert, in front of the Opera House, on the harbourside, rather than the forecourt. Some of the contestants from Make Me [...]

A Forest inside Sydney Opera House

As part of the Biennale of Sydney last week there was an incredible installation inside the Sydney Opera House. French artist Pierre Huyghe (pictured above) transformed the concert hall floor into a forest for 24 hours. He called the work A Forest of Lines. Hundreds of trees were brought in, the lights were dimmed and [...]
